Grounding cords and snaps provide an extra measure of security in situations where anti-static, ESD or conductive matting is used to protect sensitive electronic equipment or prevent potentially volatile situations due to vapors or explosive dust. They function by conducting static charge through a 15 foot wire directly from the mat to some grounded element in the vicinity, like the screw in an electrical outlet cover. REMARK: This added precaution is not necessary when the flooring is also grounded, but if it is not, we recommend the installation of a grounding cord for every 16 to 20 square feet of matting. Cords and snaps can be used to improve the performance of any of our conductive, ESD or anti-static mats. They can be installed as part of your initial matting order, or we can provide easy to follow instructions for you to install the cords on site at your facility.
